Health coaching

Getting Healthy: It had always been on the back of my mind, but I continuously found it challenging to find a time to actually do so. I was 25 years old and moved to Tulsa with a very small salary to live off of. At first, I had to live off of gas station food as a means for being able to pay bills and keep up with work. As my work life developed and a lot more traveling was involved, a new problem evolved, eating out all the time. There were two issues surrounding this: I was not watching what I ate and honestly didn’t care due to my nomadic lifestyle I created for myself, and I spent a lot of money doing this rather than having food available to me before taking on my traveling gigs.

Years go by and I realized second puberty was a real thing around my late 20’s in which my metabolism functioned at a slower rate than in my college days. I reached at one point a staggering 270 pounds. The way I put it to my partner is I didn’t see myself in the mirror anymore (it was like seeing myself in a fat suit). Many emotions ran through my mind when I stepped on the scale and discovered the numbers the computed back at me: embarrassed, devastated, ashamed, tired, upset, shocked, and terrified to name a few. I tried many fitness related activities as a means to try to get healthy: yoga, running, weightlifting, cross fit, hiking, etc. The one thing that didn’t change was how and what I was eating. I learned quickly that I couldn’t sustain these activities because I felt like garbage everyday based on my eating habits. It wasn’t long after moving again to NWA that I knew if I was going to have a fresh start in a new place, I should have a fresh start as a new person.

I used summer ‘19 as an opportunity to reflect on a year of many changes while taking on one of the larger challenges of my life: getting healthy and changing my eating habits. When I talked with my coach about my history with food, it was made apparent to me that this plan wasn’t one like I’ve learned about before. There was support from others who would experience the journey with me. I made the purchase for the first 30 days of fuelings and I knew I was making major sacrifice (or so I thought). The best part, I could still eat out on my travels to work!!

After one week of my new plan, I was able to lose almost 10 lbs. I felt the sudden relief that something was finally going to work for me and I was going to make my way to better health. Within the first 30 days I lost around 25 lbs. I was shocked that I was able to lose this much weight so effectively. Now, I am 60-65 lbs. from where I started on this plan over one year ago and am finally in a mental and physical place where I reached One-derland (100-199 lbs.). It has been surprising to me that I have maintained my health and weight so seamlessly. This plan is not just a health plan, it’s a lifestyle shift. It sure did not feel like I was sacrificing anything in the end because the plan helped me develop better habits and make better choices in what I put in my body. It has even improved my focus and endurance with daily functions. I’m convinced that ANYONE can do this if you just follow the directions in transition and retain the habits during maintenance.

I am now at a point where I want to coach others to help be their best selves and get healthier. If you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity, please feel free to contact me! I’d love to set up a time to talk with you and help get you on the path to better health. Please note, the photo of the left is me shocked at the size I have become in based on trying on new clothes.
